Work Experience: Behind the Curtain
Step into the vibrant world of Trinity Theatre! As a working theatre and charity in the heart of Tunbridge Wells, we are buzzing with drama, dance, comedy, music, and cinema. Our work experience programme gives students a peek into the behind-the-scenes magic – from team tasks to vital office admin that keeps the theatre alive.
Trinity Theatre is a “receiving house”, playing host to an array of touring shows and events. This means that our placements don’t consist of acting, performance or backstage work, however our Creative Engagement department occasionally have workshops that you can help with and we will ensure that our placements offer variety and useful transferable skills.
APPLYING FOR A PLACE
2027 Work Experience placements are open! Applications will be reviewed and applicants contacted in early 2027. We have 4 slots for a week’s work experience in summer 2027. Next year those dates are:
21st – 25th June
28th June – 2nd July
5th – 9th July
12th – 16th July
Please take a moment to complete our application form here: Trinity Theatre Work Experience Application (2027) We usually get a lot of applications, so we cannot offer everyone a space. This form gives you a chance to shine, let us know more about your interests and what you would like to get out of coming here.
If you are interested in getting more involved at Trinity you can join the wait list for our Backstage Youth Theatre or sign up to our weekly Youth Theatre sessions.
If you have any questions about the work experience placements, please contact Katie Sommers at schools@trinitytheatre.net
I started volunteering at Trinity two years ago as a tech and it has been an awesome two years, I started showing films and have since had the opportunity to work backstage and more recently learned the technical aspects of sound and lighting. People are so passionate about what they do and made me feel so very welcome. You can’t help but get sucked in by the amazing atmosphere, you really do feel appreciated. I can safely say choosing to volunteer at Trinity has been one of the best decisions I have ever made!
