Frida Kahlo: A Deeper Dive
With the final Trinity screening of Frida Kahlo: Exhibition on Screen on 1st June, and the exhibition Frida: The Making of an Icon opening at Tate Modern on the 25th, now is an ideal time to hear Dr. Heloise Coffey, educator and active researcher in art history, take a deeper dive into the life, work and times of this extraordinary 20th Century Mexican artist.
With her striking features, Kahlo was not only one of the most photographed women of her day but also painted dozens of self-portraits, making her face as familiar as her artwork: art that was shaped by her tumultuous life, by the pain of a serious accident aged 18, her devotion to Mexican votive painting, her passionate belief in Communism, and her marriage to fellow artist, Diego Rivera.
Heloise’s talks are designed to be accessible and fun; packed with information interwoven with discussion, interactive activities, and high-quality visuals, all combining to bring the subject to life and designed to ignite passion and enthusiasm.
This is a 2 hour long talk held in our Whitbourn Room. Limited spaces available.
