This UK premiere by Montréal based company La Fille du Laitier is inspired by silent film and flirts melodrama. This wordless adaptation of Macbeth, humorously transports us into a frantic race for power. In a fast-paced, gory version of the doomed couple’s woes, Macbeth Mute deconstructs Shakespeare’s tragedy with visceral theatre, using bodies, objects and fake blood, in a world devoid of morality where human lives are as disposable as Styrofoam cups. Supported by a charged and surprising soundtrack, the performer-puppeteers offer us a high-flying choreography.
