Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney’s The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs including “Under the Sea,” “Kiss the Girl,” and “Part of Your World.”
Ariel, King Triton’s youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above and bargains with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems and Ariel needs the help of her colourful friends Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull, and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea.

How Do I Get Involved?

Fill out the Audition Sign-Up form (this has all the potential audition and rehearsal dates in it)

To audition, we would like you to perform a 90 second excerpt of a song of your choosing. We will then teach you a dance at the audition, as well as perform short scenes.

We will then send out a cast list, and the first payment will be due before the first rehearsal to confirm your part.

Then, attend all rehearsals you are called for – it’s a team activity, and missing rehearsals makes it harder for everyone else (and could jeopardise your role in the show).

Take part in the performances on Thu 17 and Fri 18 April.

Unlike our other Summer shows, the show is cast solely by audition and not everyone is guaranteed a space. You will need to join us for the auditions or send a video, and we will cast it shortly after.

There are more rehearsals listed than we will do, but this is a good starting point for us to work from once we know everyone’s availability. Responses can be edited (you will be sent a link) up until the audition date.

The fewer rehearsals you can do, the less likely you are to get a part. You must be available for the last week of April rehearsals (and the performance dates, of course).

Fees

It costs £288 to take part in the cast (payable in whole or in instalments), which includes a show hoodie, digital show photos and rehearsals and training led by a team of talented professional artists.

Those who take part also get a discounted space in one of our weekly Musical Theatre groups (50% off).

The first instalment is required before the first rehearsal, and everything should be paid in full by the end of the first week in January.

No one should be unable to take part because of financial constraints. Bursaries from The Elliott Foundation are available for those on low incomes.
