Speech Bubbles

Speech Bubbles is a national primary school drama intervention supporting children’s communication skills, confidence and wellbeing.

The Speech Bubbles approach encourages children to tell, act out and reflect on their own stories. Our practitioners use a thoroughly proven structure and their expert knowledge of whole body communication to promote children’s communication, confidence and wellbeing.

Speech Bubbles sessions are a different kind of experience to a clinical intervention; practitioners work to create a low-pressure space which reduces anxiety, feels safe, playful and fun!

The programme has been running nationally since 2008, and Trinity Theatre has been delivering it in Kent since 2017.

Thanks to funding support from Kent County Council we are now pleased to be offering it free of charge to state-funded schools in KCC’s area.

We can run these for small or large groups, and support the children and young people in their learning as they work towards gaining the qualification.

Work Experience at Trinity

We are a working theatre and a registered charity in the heart of Tunbridge Wells. We put on a huge variety of shows and events, including drama, dance, comedy, music and cinema, and we have a really exciting youth and community programme. If you are interested in the arts, our work experience programme is designed to give students a real understanding of what working here might be like.

There are lots of hard working people behind the scenes of this vibrant theatre, so you will learn what it means to be part of a team and office-based administrative tasks that are all-important to keeping our wonderful venue running smoothly. Trinity Theatre is a “receiving house”, playing host to an array of touring shows and events. This means that our placements don’t consist of acting, performance or backstage work, however our Creative Engagement department occasionally have workshops that you can help with and we will ensure that our placements offer variety and useful transferable skills.

Applying for a place

Every year, we receive a large number of requests for work experience placements, so we ask everyone who is interested to fill out an application form. There are a limited number of spaces available to join us for work experience, so please give us lots of detail in your application – we want to know what excites you about a work experience placement at Trinity Theatre and your passion for the arts!

If you have any questions about the work experience placement or the form, please contact Katie Sommers via youth@trinitytheatre.net

Applications for 2025 applications are now open.
